The week rolls on by, with days going from future to present to past in the blink of an eye… which is fine with me, because it means the weekend’s almost here. And weekends (I hope) mean gaming. And gaming means gaming tables. And that means some terrain on those tables. Let’s make sure it all looks good.
Today in the Terrain Corner we have: Fantasy Facades by Bannerless Builds Up On Kickstarter, New 2mm Buildings Available From Brigade Models, Highlands Gaming Mat Available From Loke BattleMats, Cyber City Game Mat Available From Pwork Wargame, and Heroic Maps – The Treasure Cave of the Seafolk Now Available.
Bannerless Builds is the result of years of passion and study by our lead designer, Gregory Bowes, a lifetime gamer who studied theatre set design in university and worked with Shakespeare in the Park productions in Montreal.
Greg needed a solution for how much space the terrain collection he’d built over the years needed, and how long it took to set up. Inspiration came from an unlikely source; in his own words, “One night I was watching Blazing Saddles and the scene where they recreate the town near the end made a lot of sense to me, in that they had to do it quickly. At that point it all just clicked in my head.”
By applying his theatre experience to the tabletop, Greg was able to minimize the footprint of his scenery while sustaining his love for 3D terrain. As Greg puts it, “I fell in love with 3D gaming when I owned my own game store and used to play wargames with customers. I tend to think more creatively in 3D, one example was in a recent game when the bad guy was escaping from us, up some stairs while his minions kept us at bay. As the mage I blasted the stairs apart under him, causing him to fall.”
This Kickstarter campaign is to bring you the first wave of Facades, Scenery and Terrain from Bannerless builds!
We’ve added three new models to our Small Scale Scenery range of 2mm buildings. The first, and the largest model in the range so far, is a Roman Circus or Greek Hippodrome (they are pretty much the same thing). Although only a fairly small example of a circus (the Circus Maximus in Rome would be almost three times the size) it still comes in at 10″ long and 3″ wide. Perfect for a 2mm scale Ben Hur chariot race… The other two sets of models are rather more modern and quite a bit smaller. In response to a customer request, we’ve produced two sets of Cold War Hardened Aircraft Shelters (HAS) of the type seen dispersed across military airfields all over the world. Both sets are of a size to accommodate a single fighter-bomber plus ground crew and equipment. Type 1 are NATO designs, based on those at Leeuwarden Air Base in the Netherlands. These are simple reinforced concrete shelters which aren’t buried or covered over. The second, larger type are based on a Czech design. These ones are covered in soil and grass to increase the level of protection – internally they’re probably the same size as the NATO ones, but the earth cover makes them appear larger from the outside. Both sets are cast in resin and come in packs of six. Although these are part of the 2mm range, they could equally be used as 6mm sheds or workshops – just a thought… SSS-8115 – Roman Circus – £9.00 SSS-8116 – NATO Hardened Aircraft Shelters (x6) – £3.00 SSS-8117 – NATO Hardened Aircraft Shelters (x6) – £5.00
Campaigning at the end of the summer calls for a more rugged terrain than your classic lush green summer grass field, and that’s exactly what Loke BattleMat’s Highlands design brings to your party. Ideal for skirmishes across a punishing landscape, this backdrop adds potency and realism to tabletop wargaming. One of Loke BattleMat’s most popular designs, Highlands is now available as a 3’x3’ in 2mm rubber backed neoprene with a stitched edge. This design also includes a complimentary carry bag.

The Seafolk are a secretive people. Equally happy in the water and on land, they search the seabed for the one thing they truly love – gold. Scouring wrecks and lost cargoes, they hoard the gold the find, hiding it from land-dwellers. One such location is within a small air pocke in a cave, deep beneath the waves.
A printable battlemap compatible with any RPG/Dungeon-Crawl game. Use as a standalone gameboard, or combine with any same-scale tileset.
Contents: A 30 x 30 map depicting an underwater cave complex, with a small air pocket serving as a treasure chamber for gold coins collected from shipwrecks.
